Don Jamison

Don Jamison was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania in 1956. He graduated from Haverford College and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Columbia University where he received the Rappaport Prize in composition. Since receiving an invitation in 1998 to write a set of pieces for Village Harmony, he has written many pieces for chorus, some of which are published in a collection titled Far Heaven. He has also written for the Vermont Contemporary Music Ensemble, the Vermont Symphony Orchestra, the Burlington Chamber Orchestra and the Heliand Consort. Recent works include a pair of little cantatas, Raine Songs and Fischer Songs. Don is a founder of Social Band, a chorus based in Burlington, and of the Vermont Employee Ownership Center where he works.
