Wendy Greenwald Matthews

wendyGreenwaldMatthewsOriginally from rural upstate New York, flutist Wendy Greenwald Matthews lives in northeastern Vermont. Along with Frevo, she plays in the Matthews Duo with her husband, classical guitarist Peter Matthews. She is an alumna of the Walnut Hill School, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in music from Bennington College, a Master of Music degree in performance from the University of Akron School of Music, and studied in the post graduate program at the University of Arizona. She has performed with the Cleveland Composers’ Consortium, Warebrook Music Festival, Northern Winds, and various orchestras and chamber ensembles. She has studied with flutists George Pope, Julia Bogorad, Bettine Clemen, and Philip Kaplan and taught at the University of Akron, Western Reserve Academy, and Rymer School of Music. Currently she teaches at Johnson State College and maintains a private flute studio in the house she and Peter share with their five children.
