Peter Hamlin

peterHamlinPeter Hamlin began his career as a broadcaster, working in San Diego and Iowa as a radio host/producer. He also hosted various programs on Iowa Public Television for many years. After receiving a doctorate in composition at the Eastman School of Music, Hamlin taught composition, electronic music and music theory at St. Olaf College for 12 years, then joined the music faculty at his alma mater, Middlebury College, where he has taught since 2004.

Peter has written numerous choral works; music for soloists, chamber ensembles, orchestra and wind ensemble; music theater works; works for young audiences; and electronic music. He is currently at work on two orchestra pieces for Vermont Symphony Orchestra and the Des Moines Symphony.
